This tutorial was created May 6, 2005. please read my This tutorial was written for PSP9. I have included lots of instructions and screen shots with the hope that anyone can do this ~ You will need ~ Let's get started ... Open the Penelope image in PSP and go to Layers/Duplicate. Turn off your top layer and click on your Background layer. Go to Adjust/ Hue and Saturation/Colorize/ Hue 0 and Saturation 0. Turn Copy of Background layer back on and hi-light that layer. On that layer, using your Selection Tool make 3 selections as below. Go to Selections/Invert, then Edit/Cut, then Selections/Select None. Here's what you should have now .... ![]() Now we are going to make the dotted borders around our selections. Using your Preset Shapes Tool with these settings ... Make your Foreground color white and turn your background color off ![]() Draw out a rectangle around her eye. Feel free to zoom in so you can see better. ![]() Make 2 more rectangles, around the nose and mouth. Here's what you should have now ... ![]() Before we add the drop shadow, make sure your shapes are right on the edges of the colored layer. You can select a shape for editing by using your Object Selection Tool Each shape is on it's own vector sub layer and is still editable. Once you are happy with the shapes, go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow with these settings .... Vertical and Horizontal 1 Opacity 50 Blur 1 and Color Black. Now let's add the box for the text. Using your Preset Shapes tool again with the same settings, draw a box on the left side of the image. Apply the same drop shadow as before. Using your Selection Tool, same settings as before, draw out a selection inside the dotted box you just drew. Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name this layer "text box fill". Using your Flood Fill Tool fill the selection with white. Go to Selections/Select None and lower the Opacity of this layer to 36. ![]() Here's what you should have now ... ![]() One last box then we will do the text. Go to your Preset Shape Tool again, same settings except change your Foreground color to Black. Draw out a box around the edge of the image. Using the Status bar at the bottom, I started at 5/5 and went to 495/370 Add the same drop shadow to this dotted box. Using your Selection Tool, the black dotted line crosses the white one by her eyebrow, like below ... and go to Edit/Cut, Selections/Select None. Now let's add the text. The first font used is Desdemona and will be the outlined text in the back. Using your Text Tool ![]() and your Foreground color black, click inside the box on the left. You'll have to adjust the text by dragging the corners to almost meet the dotted lines, like below .... ![]() Add the same drop shadow but change the Vertical to 2 and the Horizontal to 3, then lower the opacity of this layer to 36. Using your Text Tool again, change your Font to Branching Mouse Becker, size 42 (you will have to type that in) and make your Background color Black, Foreground color off. The rest of the settings are the same. Click inside the text box again, right in the center. Add a Drop Shadow of Vertical and Horizontal 4, Opacity 40, Blur 1 and Color Black. Add a new layer for your watermark and you are done! Here are a couple examples with different images, they are done the same way as the tutorial.
